I scanned a recent post regarding this topic and saw a reference to
UPS.

As the person at UPS primarily responsible for our communications
activity on the web (I'm the "ad guy", not the webmaster), I thought I'd
offer one very practical reason for our general policy of not linking
out even though we have in excess of 10,000 links to our site.

UPS has more than 1.4 million daily pick-up customers. Everyday, more
and more of those customers are developing a web presence. To allow one
link out means being prepared to link ALL 1.4 million. Obviously, that
would not be beneficial to our customers, our users, or our web team's
health.

Interestingly, we have publicly available tools for webmasters to
incorporate the most popular UPS functionality (like UPS package
tracking) directly into their sites, which will make the need for a link
to us less import.
