There may be another point to consider for companies like UPS (or say,
airlines or a stock exchange). If a site is a source of authority to its
users, the contents on any link made from it may be considered official
statements - with a blessing from your company/organization - by at
least some users. This puts a considerable responsibility both on the
webmaster making the link and on the organization linked to. You would
not only have to check that the link is technically valid, but also for
the validity of its content - something which is nearly impossible to
acheive with a robot. At least for sites with a official nature, it is
highly advisable to clarify what is being linked to, and to make sure
that you get an advance notice of any changes.
