I would like to clear up a few things that have been said about VRML
banner advertising.

<snip>
System requirements such as this would mean only the most
sophisticated of Internet visitors will be able to view
the ads. Consumers, in general, are simply not going to
spend time to figure out how to download plug-ins,
get things running correct on their system and then
view an ad. With AOL users continuing to be a large
market share of consumers, many of these people
are still trying to surf with 8meg of RAM!
Even consumers with newer systems, and over 16meg of
RAM, are too often simply struggling with the complexities,
and time, of computing and the Internet in general..</snip>

Both Netscape and Microsoft, have integrated VRML components into their
latest browsers, therefore less and less users are having to download VRML
plug-ins. Especially new users

People will always have low spec machines is the old story of lowest
common denominator, who do you want to see your ad. A few years ago it
was shall our banner ad use animated gif's as early browsers could
understand them.

VRML has gone through a radical change over the past few months, with
dust settling in the standard wars its now beginning to have interest
again.

As a format for Internet banner advertising it could work as it has so
much to offer the advertiser.
