I was forwarded a copy of Matt Carkci's e-mail (matt_at_netprofit-mag.com)
who wrote about the value of a 'marketing co-op' for small retailers (and
the response to his note). We at Yoyodyne have such a co-op. It's called
EZSpree ( http://www.ezspree.com ). It is a sponsored promotion that
drives traffic to participating retailers.

Participation for the retailers is absolutely free. The only 'strings' are
that the retailers must:
- have at least SSL security
- be willing to work closely with our sponsors to create special values
- treat our sponsors fairly on their site

During the last running of EZSpree (October 15, 1997 thru Jan 31, 1998)
American Express was the top sponsor. Therefore all participating sites
had to feature American Express on the ordering page at least at parity
with other payment options. More than half the participating sites created
special value deals (x% off when you use the American Express card). They
got bonus traffic (and, I might add, significantly better clickthrough from
the promotion)

If you - or any sites you know - might be interested in participating in
EZSpree 2, please let us know. Space is limited, and we are carefully
constructing our 'cast' to give the widest product array for our
promotional participants. We'll be starting up again early this summer.
