LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey all,
Those of you that have been members of Online Ads for a long time know
that we used to do a weekly mailing called Ad Bytes. It was a recap of
the online advertising news. We put it on hiatus for awhile because
things were too crazy for us to do it every week.
Well, things are still crazy. But we've decided to bring it back.
Actually, we're spinning it off as a separate publication. Now Ad
Bytes has got its own URL and everything!
We figured we'd send this first one to everyone, just like old times.
But to get it after today, you'll need to sign-up for it at:
http://www.ad-bytes.com/
We've expanded and changed it a bit. As you will see.
Ad Bytes has also become somewhat of an experiment in e-mail
marketing, the progress of which I will share with everyone on the
list. First off, Ad Bytes will be available in both plain e-mail and
HTML-enabled e-mail. (We'll see what people really prefer.) And
second, we're collecting some demographic data when people sign up.
Hope you all find it useful.
best,
richard
INNOVATIVE CAMPAIGN
Star Trek Universe goes beyond the banner.
Not satisfied relying simply on banner advertising, i-frontier (
http://www.i-frontier.com ), has developed advertising that is well
integrated with site editorial for client Star Trek Universe. The
advertising is running on PriceScan, the computer price search engine.
On some select PriceScan pages, Captain Picard (as the Borg, Locutus)
appears to "beam" onto the right side of the page. The animated gif
continues as Picard shoots a laser out at the viewer, and repeats the
Borg mantra, "resistance is futile." After mentioning the offer from
Star Trek Universe, Picard then beams back off of the page.
