One of our programmers had a similar idea and put together an HTML based
banner for just that purpose. It came about because what happens when you
see the banner but have another agenda and still want some more
information? A new kind of smart surfing called Connect Banners
http://www.connectbanners.com (which has both an html and java version) The
user enters his/her email information into the banner which sends them an
email with product/sale information. All this happens without the user
leaving the page they were originally on.

We just launched the html version of this banner for an eToys $10 off
coupon campaign. The advantage is you can do in html what only java-based
banners have done to date, it keeps the doors open for a broader audience.
This is a big advantage when you are trying to target consumers that might
not be early-adopters of technology or surfing sites that don't allow for
Java-based advertising.
