I envision this to be analogous to the current picture-in-picture
on today TV's , except that one of the PIPs will be the
Internet. Depending on where you click on the TV program will
dictate what Internet information is presented. Is this what
convergence will look like? People clicking through TV to get to
the web? Is there any reason, given broadband, that we won't be
able to click through the web to deliver video on demand to our
TV PIP? Will there even be a distinction between media?

Not necessarily. IMHO TV is more easily consumed because it
utilizes sound. To illustrate, how many people, out of choice,
mute the volume and watch the evening news using closed
captioning? Would people enjoy having the newspaper read to
them? Imagine getting home in the evening, preparing dinner and
having the business section of your favourite online newspaper
read to you with the voice of Mel Brooks? Or the sports by Mike
Tyson? Broadband and browser plug-ins will make this possible.
Personalization software will allow you to receive relevant
information based on preferences and historical habits in a
convenient, easy to consume way.
I don't see this as a disadvantage but as an opportunity.
