Yes. I can!
I've sampled four or five affiliate programs since I began
online in 1996. I have found that while many are indeed
difficult to succeed at, you CAN make money from them.
Example: My first year with Virtualis, reselling their web
hosting services netted over $17k in income. Judging from
current figures, this number will easily double in 1999.
Although this is not my main source of income online, $1500
a month is a decent check for an affiliate program.
In my experience, there are three keys to making REAL money
with affiliate programs:
1. Select a program that pays 25% or more. (residuals or
recurring commissions work best)
2. Only promote a product or service if you can get behind
it 100%. Virtualis offers top-notch web hosting and
now-famous 11-minute live-response support. Their pricing is
not the lowest, but I can sell them because professionals
know they get what they pay for in hosting.
3. Promote the product or service through your own site
instead of relying solely on your reseller ID. (Folks tend
to buy more when linked from a site they trust, rather than
clicking an obvious reseller URL.)
