Spam email? How do you figure that you got spam email due to cookies?
Unless I'm missing something, this sounds like a perpetuation of a die-hard
piece of misinformation that cookies can somehow "sniff out" your email
address, credit card number, bank account, etc. Cookies are *not* agents.
They don't sniff out anything. They are simply a text file on the user's
hard drive that allow a site to store a few bytes of information on the
user's system, typically a serial number, so it can identify the user the
next time he comes to the site. If you haven't already volunteered your
email address to the site, it can't otherwise figure it out (except in rare
cases of non-standard browsers w/ funky configurations). In any event,
cookies would have nothing to do with learning your email address.
