Kim,

Basically there are two approaches to surveying site visitors:
1. real-time random selection, and
2. invited surveys of registered visitors

If your site uses some form of registration and those are the folks you
primarily
want to survey, the second option gives you the greatest control over the survey
sample. We can send out personalized email invitations with a clickable URL to
each potential respondent. The URL contains an embedded ID code which
allows us to
control access and track responses. Without a valid ID you do not gain
access to
the survey. With a valid ID you only gain access once.

If you want a sample of all visitors to your site, then we can include a
randomized
invitaion on either the main page or a lower level Web page. If your site
contains
JAVA or you are reasonably sure that virtually all visitors will be JAVA
enabled,
we can pop up a survey invitation for every 1/x visitors. If JAVA is a
problem, we
can do the same thing with a banner or box ad. In either case, only a random
sample of visitors ever sees the survey. If your interest is in demographics of
all visitors, then the invitation should be on the main page. If you are
interested in surveying opinions about your Web site, then the survey link
should
be on lower level pages.

Hope that is helpful.
