I find this topic very interesting and have brought it up before in
other forums. I know of no data, however, here is an example where
NOT having a URL as part of a banner can hurt you. Animated banners
can also hurt you here. As a norm, I print out things from web sites
to read later at my leisure (I hate reading on a screen). Often I
want to check out a banner, but without the URL, its not going to
happen. Often, especially with animated banners, I get a printed
banner that I cannot even tell what the message is. I know lots of
people who are like me in this regard. I'd love to see some numbers
on this.
