Dear Friends,

This post is MatchLogic's official response to the recent
string of posts about our patent-pending TrueCount
technology.

To clarify, MatchLogic's TrueCount technology is NOT a
cache-busting technique NOR is it a pragma-no cache
technique. TrueCount is a Cache Management Counting
Methodology. It does not force browser action (banner
reloads, refreshes or the like) or any other techniques
related to cache-busting.

Contrary to list posts, TrueCount is very "technically
possible," is not simply "high tech lingo," and does not
"make a proxy" do anything. TrueCount has been successfully
implemented in nearly every campaign MatchLogic has
initiated since the invention of TrueCount. TrueCount has
been tested and found superior against traditional cache
counting techniques. In addition, TrueCount has been audited
by Ernst & Young to verify it's accuracy.

TrueCount is a technique that is unique to the industry, and
contrary to list posts, TrueCount is not the same technology
application as some list members have described using or
alluded to. Simply put, TrueCount's unique application of
technology deems it patentable.

Furthermore, because TrueCount is under a pending patent
application process, this makes the intricate working
details of TrueCount highly confidential. It is unfortunate
that our rationalization and marketing descriptions may seem
"mysterical," but we are forced to act in such a way as to
protect our patent-pending intellectual property from
duplication.

I would recommend everyone review an excellent document
published by CASIE which addresses various cache counting
techniques in addition to counting methodologies very
clearly: http://www.casie.org/PUBS/WHITE.PDF

Finally, MatchLogic is initiating discussions with the
proper parties, including the IAB and other leading industry
players, to resolve the issues that have been brought forth
and to discuss the opportunity of making TrueCount an
industry standard.

Sincerely,
Keith Pieper
