I've been watching the World Cup on Univision. Since play
is continuous in soccer, Univision does not interrupt the
play with normal TV ads, but put animated banners across
the bottom of the screen, when the play slows down.
Alternatively, Budweiser has a frame that goes around the
screen when a goal is replayed.

I'd be interested if anyone knows what traditional
advertising agencies think of these "banner" ads. The
advertisers are certainly big time such as Honda and
MacDonalds. To me the ads seem very similar to website
banner ads, except you can't click on them.

How does the effectiveness of these World Cup banner ads
compare to banner ads on-line? (You get to define
effectiveness. :)
