I'm new to the industry (working in product development for the UK's
Press Association) as well as the list so please bear with me!

There was a lot of hype last year about microsite adverts/sponsorship,
yet there seem to be relatively few examples of these considering how
long the idea has been around (a couple I've found include
http://www.fa-carling.com/the-box/jigsaw/fuse, advertising chocolate via
the Premiership football site, and the Honda Campus microsite (now
defunct) .

Does anyone know of any stats/reports on the effectiveness of these
kinds of approach?
