ONLINE-ADS>> ads vs. content

I'm curious as to whether any of you work for sites that have a firm
"advertising vs. content" policy that refers to how advertising should be
distinquished from content. And if so, what that policy is.
Currently, we run house ads that link to content areas of our site and some
feel that this is misleading to users when those house ads are rotating in
revenue-generating spots. Therefore, we're trying to determine if we need a
policy that separates the two. But the last thing we want to do is alienate
our advertisers.
Options we've considered include:
1. Designating certain areas of our pages for ads only
2. Clearly marking each ad as an advertisment above and below it
3. Clearly marking each house ad as content by including wording along the
lines of "brought to you by oursite.com"
I'd appreciate any feedback you may have on this issue.
Thanks,
Lara Edge
