I have read the articles and listened to the complaints from other web
developers about the difficulty of being listed in Yahoo.

All I can say is that my own experience has been quite good with them.
WalkersWeb got its first two listings (category and geographic) within a
week of our request. This week we received a third listing in the online
events section about 72 hours after requesting it.

I wish I knew what we are doing right to get such prompt listings (I would
write a book and sell it to y'all) but I have never had any difficulty with
any of the sites I have registered with them.

Ironically, we have had long delays and poor success with some of the search
engines, such as Excite. I have sent in request after request and still
can't get our site listed there. Infoseek was very quick, Hotbot took a bit
longer and Lycos took quite a while but they finally listed us a couple of
weeks ago.

Perhaps Yahoo treats commercial and non-commercial, informational sites
differently when they prioritize their listings. I am just very happy to be
listed there and we get more referrals from Yahoo than any of the other
directories, search engines or sites that link to us.
