Richard,

I read that article the other day as well as PromotionWorld's article
located at http://www.promotionworld.com/se/yahoo.shtml.

Getting listed on Yahoo! is a huge topic with few realistic solutions
that I have heard. The last thing I want to do is upset the staff
at Yahoo! not that they are "God-like" to the Net but rather that Yahoo!
is run by humans and the level of frustration setting in from angry users
(legitimate or not) seems to be reaching a peak with them as well. Hence,
their sudden and unannounced focus as a "media company". (Hearing it from
Srinivasan was the first time I had heard that at all)

I have had the same instances with "Remaining Un-Yahooed" in the past.
However, when an emergency presented itself for a Christmas website I was
working with, the situation was resolved within 24hrs. Since Yahoo! is
not a Search Engine, I do have sympathy with the bad press they have been
getting.

However, there have been high instances of Error 404's in their directory
that I find to be very aggravating. I really don't have a clear understanding
of why they are not equipped with software that throws out or reports dead
URLs.

PromotionWorld suggested a number of solutions that all seemed to be
legitimate "ways to cheat". I guess that is what is has come to to get
listed.

I personally, have found more luck submitting to the Main Directory but
also focusing on their "What's New", "Full Coverage" or "Regional"
categories. And I ALWAYS keep it brief, listing the DIRECT URL of where
I would like to be listed with the DIRECT URL of my client and a SHORT
DESCRIPTION as those submissions are direct e-mail as opposed to their
usual form. So far it's been the best temporary solution for me.
