Well,

I found it fasinating that someone joined this list, posted a message
about NetGravity and then was reported that this person was not a client
and the message came from a NetGravity 'rival' mail system.

What has this got to do with o-a other than it was came from the o-a list?

Well, a lot.

For starters, people who get content from discussion boards/groups or
'guest' writers, ie, ClickZ, face the possiblity that not only is the
'content' self serving (heck, why else would someone write for free?) but
also so inaccurate that it places the website in a very bad light.

Will advertisers keep advertising on a site that has content that is
'suspect', is one wrong 'article' ok, is 2 ok, is 10 bad? What is the
measure for 3rd party content that is either unmoderated (ie most
discussion boards) or moderated, ie, o-a or ClickZ, etc.

Will people keep sending the 'free' content to the site, will people keep
posting, reading etc.?

Does it matter?

Does anyone really care?

Is this list (and all other listservs in general) like a big ongoing
informal converstaion in a kitchen (one very *large* kitchen with only
about 100 ppl yapping and 9000 standing along the wall :-) and thus you
take what people say with a grain of salt?
