This weekend, I received emails from a number of web publishers
who had received email from a new company called "AdClix"
(http://www.adclix.com/). I also received the same email: an
"approval" of my "application" to join this pay-per-click ad
network (promising 10 cents per click, but with very short
and vague terms and conditions). I got many queries because
in fact, none of these web publishers (including me) had ever
applied to join AdClix, and several publishers reported that the
"acceptance" email was received at very old email addresses.
My email came to me at an email address which was specially
coded -- the ONLY time I ever used that email address was
when I applied to the eAds ad network. Thus, it appears that
AdClix obtained its solicitation email addresses from eAds.
Chris Jaeb, president of eAds, denies ever having given the
addresses, or permission to use them, and he advised me
that AdClix apparently is being run by a disgruntled former
employee of eAds.
I have sent several emails and I have sent many emails to
AdClix, but the company refuses to communicate with me
or any other web publishers. When I finally reached John
Biddle (listed as the administrative contact with Internic for
AdClix.com), he told me that I should direct all my questions
to the company's attorneys -- and then he refused to tell me
the name, address, email address, or phone number of the
attorneys.
Does anyone else know anything about this new vendor
"AdClix" ? I would appreciate any feedback at all -- I have
obviously concluded that the company is acting very
strangely, and I would like to know more so I can educate
other web publishers about whether this company is
legitimate or not.
