Re: Response rates in the UK
Jim, I look after two sites. One has a clickthrough
average of 1%, the other of 4%. The rules? Personality.
One of the sites has a very unique and strong personality
which makes the banner design all the easier to fit in with
user mindset - hence the majority of ad creative is tailored
to our site with the corresponding response boost. Response
rates are boosted again by good ad management; frequency
controlling, creative supervision etc etc. Your question is
really, what type of UK people do I want, so where should I
go to get them, and what creative is ideally tailored to
that site in order to maximise the response. When this is
done properly it works brilliantly; currently over 20% of
our campaigns hit over 10% CTR. But I would say the UK
average is around 1.5% response.
Prices here are higher - the average is $22-$23cpm; having
said that many sites are $60cpm+ and we have a few pay per
click clients on over $2 per click. Hopefully though, as the
traffic is not as widespread as it is in the US you will
have exemplary ad management.....
