PRESS QUERY: IU Business Magazine - Branding

I'm a journalist working on an article about branding
(a.k.a. corporate identity) for IU Business Magazine.

More accurately, the editor has assigned me this topic and
asked that I develop something interesting to say about it
before she gives me the green light to start primary
interviews with the school's professors.

So what are the most misunderstood aspects of this strategy
professionals see? What do you wish more businesses knew
about it? What is the "hidden" story nobody seems to
understand or grasp about this concept?
