Re: the industry *hush* over banner caching
Un-reported ads, precipitated by the use of proxy servers,
etc, is an enormous problem for those of us who actually
have to rely on ad revenue to operate our businesses - as
opposed to those entities that have fooled the financial
market into investing millions upon millions of dollars on
their cockamamie schemes, thereby providing a seemingly
endless supply of working capital.
The only answer to this problem is a class-action suit
against AOL (for example) to force them to find a proper
reporting solution and to compensate those entities that
have been hurt. It'll cost them hundreds of millions, maybe
billions, but heck, they can afford it. They have wrongly
exploited the efforts of a good many Internet content
producers/providers that have made the world wide web so
valuable. We've estimated that we've lost several million
dollars in advertising revenue from unreported ads over the
last 3 years.
