Re: Text Banner Standards: Isn't it about time?

Hooray for Andy Bourland's helpful suggestion on defining a
standard for text ads.

Repeating his proposal for those who missed it, he calls for
a standard 60 character line, and a standard choice of

4 lines <small>

7 lines <medium>

12 lines <large>

plus a standardized border, such as that used in Andy's own
publications, eg:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> S P O T L I G H T <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Two suggestions:

1 Have a fourth, true "story length" size of 30 lines, for
those rare but, I predict, increasingly frequent and
important cases where a newsletter opts for one
"educational" ad as opposed to several smaller ones.

2 Use the word "SPONSOR'S MESSAGE" as the default tag in
the border. Let's call what we do and make by the most
honest label possible, and begin educating those who still
persist in thinking that anything is really "free"!

Who is counting up the tally on Andy's proposal? And can we
please hear from Michael Tchong and Adam Boettiger and Adam
Audette and the other list-mavens on this important *revenue
enhancing* idea?

It sure gets my vote!
