If your $100 metal detector would find only 80% of the gold
coins on the gallion you are salvaging, you should cough up
the extra $100 to get the delux model if it helps find the
rest. In fact it only needs to find enough gold coins to pay
the additional cost (plus hurdle rate for the finance people
out there.) The trouble with common sense is that the kind
that is common is not always the kind that is sensible.
