List of abusive spider/acceleration software?
Hey there. I recently saw a 40% click rate on a button on
our pages, which of course isn't reasonable. Turns out
someone is using "VirgilioSpider" to preload our web site to
thier cache or something each day. This isn't quite as bad
as "Teleport Pro". At least Teleport Pro doesn't submit
cgis. VirgilioSpider does. So what happens is, as it loads
hundreds of our web pages for whatever purpose, it also
'clicks' on every single ad. I've change the software to not
log ad clicks by this user agent, but it begs the question,
what other similar software automatically clicks on every ad
it sees while caching/indexing/whatever your site?
Does anyone maintain a definitive list of user agents to
ignore traffic from when logging ad impressions and clicks?
