Johnny--
We invite you to install Alexa to learn how we're different
since you raise several concerns in your email that require
clarification.
First of all, Alexa is a free Web navigation service that
communicates with your brower, and is not a browser in
itself. Alexa gives site information relevant to the one
you are visiting and suggests related sites to visit next.
Alexa is designed to complement your online experiences by
surfacing useful information to help you make smarter
decisions.
Secondly, ad click through rates are not affected because
Alexa doesn't interrupt site ads or existing Web site
content at all.
Alexa displays ads only on the toolbar and in frames or
pop-ups emanating from the toolbar, depending upon the
user's browser preference. Our advertising can be targeted
by URL or categories of URL's. For instance, an advertiser
can display a Ford ad to all Alexa users visiting any
automotive site, without interfering with existing ads or
other site content since the ad never appears "on" the site.
To conclude, Alexa functions more like a "traveling portal,"
precluding the need for repeat visits to a search engine in
order to find relevant sites. In no way are we attempting
to usurp revenue channels from any site on the Web.
The best way to understand the Alexa advertising model is to

Even better, download Alexa at http://www.alexa.com
