It just goes to show - I'm another bidder on "advertising
agency" and got 75 clicks on an 8 cent bid in Jan. We don't
have the figure yet for the number of total searches on the
term, but in December "advertising agency" was searched 475
times (according to the Suggestions page). I got 45 clicks
(9.5% response rate) at 8 cents.
I'm a real convert now to GoTo, and have bids on more than
30 search terms with more planned. But I have to say that
when I first saw the site the traditional net user in me was
really put off by the fact that the top bids were sponsored.
My first instinct was to scroll past the bid terms for the
Inktomi results.
(Of course then I thought I'd try it anyway and as a buyer
I'm sold, and wish we could have a local UK search engine
with the same system)
Has anyone researched average users' impressions of the GoTo
bids system? Are they generally positive or negative? How
about all you other bidders - what results are you getting?
And what about the top non-bid results? The current top
bidder (Datacom) is paying 50 cents, almost twice the number
two slot! Are they getting value from that?
