Does anyone know the different type of ad blocking
techniques being used by software develops today. For
example, I know that AtGuard strips the ad calling string
from the HTML as it interprets the page. Therefore, there
are never any calls to the ad server at all. I was having
trouble finding out similar information for packages like
Web Washer or InterMute.
Is the technique that AtGuard uses standard? I ask this
because I am currently attempting to place ads with a very
technical target group of whom I am fairly confident that
they utilize this software. Deciding between the mix of
banners or opt-in lists depends on how they filter the ads.
Example: CMP records an impression whe the call is made to
the ad server which is bad enough. But if not all ad
blocking technologies strip the tags BEFORE they get called,
then we would be getting the double-whammy.
Any insight appreciated.
