Chad, I too have a new site,
http://www.ResortsandLodges.com, which has been up about 3
months. It's a directory of resorts around the world, which
provides free listings to the properties, but also offers
them (and other travel related companies) opportunities to
increase their visibility. We have three ways to bring in
revenue from the site. Two of them, ads and listing
enhancements, are prefaced on pre-payment (the third doesn't
lend itself to pre-payment unfortunately). This hasn't held
up anyone's ad too much, as companies are anxious to have
their ad or enhancement come on-line quickly, thus they are
paying quickly (usually within 1-2 weeks). Invoices are
sent as due upon receipt, rather than with Net terms.

If you are uncomfortable with pre-payment, you can always
offer discount terms for early payment. In a wholesale
business I had in another life, 2/10 net 30 (2% discount
for paying within 10 days) was a great way to bring in some
cash quickly, although there are always those who will take
the full time given to them no matter how you sweeten the
pot.
