Re: Consumer Privacy - is it really that big of a deal??
Hello, everybody
I had to put in my two cents. I do not trust the FTC. First
of all you should know that they request their visitors to
report spam to them. This means that if you make just one
mistake and somebody wants to be a hero...you lose. Even
worse, an email forger can request YOUR autoresponder and
the person who receives it might think it's spam and report
YOU! How would you like that for breakfast?
It happened to me and I was thankful that the person who was
forged asked me about it before fetching the spam pitbulls.
I don't spam nor do I want a forger to get me in trouble for
doing so. Anyway, back to why I don't trust the FTC...
I remember when I posted to a business newsgroup one time
and was replied with an obsenity. Well, the funny thing was
the organization was called "SpammersRLossers" and the email
address *was* the same address that is used to report spam
to the FTC. I am not kidding. My jaw dropped to the floor. I
emailed them to see what happened 2 months ago and they
never replied.
As for this issue with privacy, I suggest everybody say the
following 9 magic words when one subscribes, fills forms,
etc:
"All information sent is kept private at all times."
Then, if you wish, you simply link them to a page with 1 or
2 paragraphs detailing how wonderful you are and how much
you respect their privacy. :-) Not necessary, but just a
thought.
Have a good day, good luck, and thank you very much for your
time...
