Content Management Overkill

I'm interested in discussing the problem of (what I call)
"Content Management Overkill." In my words: "Content is king
and we're the servants."

Companies invest an incredible amount of sweat equity into
developing and refreshing content. Due to poor Web
management or other reasons, they appear to forget about
their primary reasons for being online and fail to balance
their efforts appropriately.

When do these companies get down to business, even if Web
publishing IS their business?

Any thoughts?
