As long as the search engines do a decent job of ensuring
that one can buy only relevant keywords, then paid listings
should be to the benefit of both the advertiser and the
user. In most cases a message that is worth more to deliver
is also worth more to receive.
The problem with the web (and its virtue) is that it is a
fire hose of information. Paid listings, despite their
actual and potential flaws, help to aim the fire hose.
