In response to your question concerning which third party
affiliate management solution is the best choice - LinkShare
or beFree, I would like to bring up a third alternative
Commission Junction (www.cj.com). CJ.com is a web-based
service that is designed to be very appealing to affiliates
and provides them with a tool-set that helps ensure their
success. After all, the success of an affiliate program
relies on the success of the individual affiliates. Your
decision on which affiliate management solution to choose
should take into consideration what your affiliates would
want. If you think about it for a minute, whether you
choose beFree, Linkshare, or build your own proprietary
solution it is irrelevant to the affiliate. They will not
care one way or the other because there are no additional
benefits to them with these solutions. Commission Junction,
on the other hand, offers affiliates exactly what they need
to manage multiple merchant relationships. We provide a
web-based service that allows your affiliates to work with
multiple merchants (the average affiliate works with between
3 and 9 merchants) and also register multiple web sites all
under one password and I.D. This means if I were one of
your affiliates and wanted to put links up on my three
different web sites and also wanted to be able to compare
the results of my three web sites, all I would have to do is
log on at www.cj.com with my single password and I.D. and
the performance of all three web sites would be shown.
Additionally, if I wanted to sell flowers and books from my
web site I would also be able to compare how well they are
selling in comparison to your merchandise. Finally, all my
earnings from all three web sites and all three merchants
would be combined into a single check payable each month.
This last point is very important to affiliates. CJ.com
combines all affiliate earnings ($5, $20, $30, $50 = $105)
into one single commission check, payable to the affiliate
at a combined $25 minimum each and every month. Affiliates
do not have to manage multiple merchant relationships
separately and then wait for each merchant (or third party
provider) to cut a paycheck at some random schedule and
dollar minimum. Additionally, CJ.com is priced much lower
than the other service providers and provides all the
services they offer with no additional or hidden costs.
