MODERATOR'S NOTE : signing off

Hey all,

As you might have heard through the "Jaco" grapevine, I'm
leaving Tenagra and stepping down as moderator of the Online
Advertising Discussion List.

I'm turning the reigns over to the capable hands of George
Williams, director of client marketing at Tenagra.

I'm joining ClickZ to help them promote and expand their
offerings to online marketing professionals.

It was a hard decision to leave Tenagra. But my career goals
are to get out of the agency-client side of the business and
more into marketing a single venture. ClickZ's business is
more in tune with that.

I took over this list three years ago (June of 1996). Back
then, ClickZ didn't exist yet (neither did Iconocast). 24/7
Media was still Katz, Petry and The Commonwealth Network.
AOL was only 6 million members. Push was starting to get
hot. Microsoft's "Slate" had just opened its doors. The
Internet Advertising Council changed its name to the
Internet Advertising Bureau. Amazon was preparing to launch
a thing call an "Associates Program." And Procter and
Gamble had everyone in a uproar because they demanded to pay
for online advertising only on a click-thru basis.

We were just a group of 600 people in 1996. Today we are
more than 7300 and one of the major forums for discussing
issues in our industry.

Man, what a wild ride it has been!

Let me close by saying thanks. You've all taught me a great
deal about the industry, and how a major online community
should (and shouldn't) work. These are lessons for which I
am eternally grateful and that shall not be lost in my new
endeavors.

best,

richard
