Re: The quality of online research

Tim Lee talks about research a lot and seems to sell it as
well. He spends a lot of time telling people how to do
research and criticizes how others do it. His posts are
everywhere. Yet when I asked him about his background and
qualifications, he refused to answer, except to say that he
read various marketing journals. I've read many of his
posts which position him as THE expert. But other than
selling his services, what are his qualifications as an
expert? I have a real research background that is easy to
document - Ph.D., experience in experimental and survey
research, lots of publications, taught research methods for
many years, and edit an academic journal. I don't sell
these services, so am not looking for clients or
credibility.

If Tim is right that most people don't understand
research, and I'm right that Tim doesn't know as much as he
thinks he does, then we need more zine editors who
understand marketing better so that they can make better
judgments about whether or not to give Tim's posts
credibility by publishing them.
