I don't like to start this whole debate over the death of
banners....but has anyone noticed the blizard of Radio ads
for online services. WCBS News Radio 88 has a stream of
steady ads for online services. Personally, I think it's
clear that except for specific uses like gaming and etc -
users don't SURF the 'net. They go there for specific
information. Of course Yahoo and others are trying to raise
the stickiness factor, but right now it's all to get specific
content. I visit Ask Jeeves, Yahoo to find information. Once
I get it I visit specific sites for specific content - I
ignore the banners UNLESS it's something that really catches
my eye. What works is consistent over time brand building -
like in Ezine ads or other solutions!!!
What do you all think?
PS - I did talk to someone at WCBS radio he guestimated that
offline to online adveritsing is up about 50% and I say growing!
