I was glad to see your post. It's amazing how - almost
overnight - people are waking up to the possibilities that
database driven list servers offer. We recently started
offering our clients both a hosted database platform as well
as the ability to purchase the software outright. Just
through word of mouth, we've averaged over 100 contacts a
week since then. (Unfortunately, it's meant delaying
getting our new web site for the service online :)) Why such
a response rate? I think it's because there are so few
affordable options out there.
The software we work with is called GT/Mail. It's been on
the market now since early this year and is an add on to the
web personalization software GuestTrack that's been
available for over 3 years.
The primary advantage of using this software over UnityMail
and others is that you can totally integrate your list
server database with your web site - to create a customized
experience based on a visitor's preferences. Of course, you
don't NEED to use these features, but it's nice to know that
it's available.
