The main children's sites that come to mind are Yahooligans
( http://www.yahooligans.com/ ), Ask Jeeves for Kids (
http://www.ajkids.com ) or Kids Click (
http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/KidsClick!/ ).

The issue of children's privacy surfaces here. Part of the
C.A.R.U (Children's Advertising Review Unit) guidelines
instructs CARU compliant sites not to send visitors to other
non-CARU compliant sites. In a nutshell, if a search engine
is CARU compliant, they will (should) only point visitors to
your site if it is also CARU compliant. Because of this
restriction, many search engines targeting children under 13
might have a lengthy review process.

Please understand that these are just recommended guidelines
at this time. The FTC is using the CARU guidelines to
establish a more formal children's privacy policy.
