Again I am shocked at the limited ability of advertisers to
understand the consumer they pretend to represent. Who
plays video games? Why would anyone who plays video games
wish to be targeted as belonging a certain group of
individual. People play games for all sorts of reasons and
putting ads into them would seem to me--just like online ads
in general--more off-putting than attractive. If you want
people to play your game they must enjoy it. You can't get
people to play bad game software (they spend so much time
putting up with bad business software) just like you can't
get them to listen to music they don't like. Ever hear ads
put into CDs or audio tapes? Why not? Think about it.

If you want to sell something to people, you've got to give
them something they need--and that they can't get anywhere
else, for the same effort expended.
