Well there are some possibilities

It could most likley be a problem with the software.

It could be that WebTrends could be miscounting it, as this
is always a problem with tracking. Nothing in the world is
100% accurate.

Another possibility is that someone could be reading an
article on the site, click the banner, return to the site,
go to another article, and click your banner again
(presuming that they want to go back to the site or saw
another banner for your site thinking it was for a different
site)

Of course, it could always just be cacheing problems.

What software does the site use to track ads?
