I agree with Mike...

Inspired by the drugs.com auction the other day, I actually
listed some of my cool domain names <directmarketer.com,
emailmarketer.com, commercenews.com, etc> with the guys at
greatdomains.com, who did the drugs.com deal. Who knows?
Maybe some of the obvious beneficiaries of those kinds of
names might surface and I'll make a buck or two...

I think that what greatdomains.com did so well in selling
the drugs.com domain is that they got a major PR spin
happening. Without all those articles in Wired.com, etc, I
doubt they would have gotten that kind of money.

But I also wonder if domain name sales should be handled the
way investment bankers sell online properties, with reps
identifying and making calls and presentations to likely
buyers... The current approach of simply listing your name
and price at a myriad of questionable enterprises is nowhere
close to tapping the possibilities... Is there no firm that
specializes in this kind of thing? I'd love to hear about
it.
