You might be able to tackle your projects without $20K. On
the affiliate side, check out:
http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Websi
te_Promotion/Aff iliate_Programs/. Most of the scripts are
free or relatively inexpensive. Likewise both Dynamic Trade
and Commission Junction can put you in the affiliate
business for less than $2K, plus cut checks and manage the
affiliates. Another place to start is LinkExchange's
ClickTrade/RevenueAvenue.
Likewise on the mailing list side there are free tools --
LinkExchange's Listbot is popular. Lyris is free for up to
200 names. Again, try some of the scripts at
http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Maili
ng_List_Manageme nt/ and
http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Remotely_H
osted/Mailing_Li st_Management/.
