Several people have sent suggestions like this. The problem
is they are not appropriate. The vast majority of the money
we were talking about was to the backend database work that
need to be done before a e-newsletter could be set-up at the
moment this guy gets messages for the orders ad they just
get dumped into his in-box in his computer. It never
occurred to him that that iformation might be needed for
something so he didn't bother with a back end. He has no
idea how many of his customers are repeats nor anoy other
info about them. I wasn't kidding when I said he set it up
without the appropriate help.
Also, in the price I quoted before we quoted him a new POS
(point of sale) program (for his store in real life) that we
would be able to interface into the same database so we
would know for instance if a customer shopped us both
on-line and in-store, etc. With no demographic data I am
kind of stuck for a direction. I hate shooting in the dark
until I hit a target. Marketing isn't supposed to be that
way. It is supposed to be systematic.
Ok, I got that rant out of my system.
Thanks for all your help for the people who did post replies,
Sue
