Advertising on Auto Sites

Hello,

Does anyone know of good articles that offer insight on
consumer views of auto sites (particularly consumer-focused
auto sites) that accept advertising?

My first thought is that naturally, consumers would
interpret sites such as Kelly, Consumer Reports or Edmunds
accepting of ads as a compromise to the integrity of the
content. But I'm sure there are other ways to take advantage
of the revenue opportunities of advertising without damaging
the credibility of a consumer focused site, and without
being maniupulative, deceptive or unethical.

If anyone can point me toward articles or offer opinions,
I'd appreciate it.
