As a blue-collar, Wal-Mart, trailer park type, I can assure
you that pop-up ads are just as annoying for us as for any
other demographic. Pop-up windows can be useful for showing
important information that needs to be available while users
are still accessing the main site, such as for Help
information or cross-referencing statistics. Most
experienced Web users, regardless of their preferred
shopping venue or place of residence, are very hostile to
pop-up windows of any kind, be they ads or anything else.
Think twice before using them. The question you must ask
yourself is whether the information in the pop-up window
will be welcomed by the user.
