In response to what is an "Interstitial", etc. - I was
confronted with the same issue - What do some of these terms
stand for?

As for "Interstitial" it is NOT a real "industry standard"
term and is rarely used. Someone made this up and put it on
the web in hopes that someone would use it.

Interstitial defined - is the pop-up ad that annoyingly
appears as you switch from one site to another and are
waiting for the second site.

As to the word's use in our industry, it is RARE and more
confusing than anything else. Some people used ill-defined
or rarely used terms to try to appear as "if they know what
they're talking about" while trying to impress others.

After surveying over thirty users as well as webmasters in
two information technology courses - NONE of them knew the
term. Let's all STOP inventing "terms of convenience" and
stick to REAL definitions. Those of you creating "cutesy"
terms do nothing for this industry let alone those that are
trying to understand it in its infancy.

Misinformation and wrongly taught people do not enhance the
evolution of this industry. Take 9600 BAUD - there is NO
such thing. It's 9600 bits per second. Yes, even some of
the product boxes are WRONG. Before you tout your expertise
- make sure you KNOW what you are talking about.

Hope this helps you, Eduard. You are a victim of
pseudo-experts.
