Drawbacks & Benefits of Online Advertising

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could provide me with information
on a topic which I am currently researching.

I am currently on the final year of a Business Studies
degree, the information I require is for my dissertation. I
need to know what drawbacks and benefits are found from
advertising on the internet. A typical example of the
information I require is, how companies advertising on the
web face the difficulty in segmenting the market and
reaching specific customers.

I would be grateful for any information.
