Pop up banner success & page views

1) I know on my own site I added a popup "banner" to
subscribe to my email based ezine "Technology and Your
Business" The INSTANT I did this I noticed a dramatic
increase. Now if you're talking about a banner popping up
every x-seconds - for get it. But one banner upon initial
site contact is fine. You could even add cookies so
different visitors get different banners.

This all really hinges though on what action you want
visitors to take

2) Newsletters are the key to driving and steering users
onto one's site. I had been putting full lenght articles in
my newsletters, which I felt users didn't like. Personally I
prefer it, as I can save time, but I think some prefered
short summaries and the full article on line...I did this
and traffic is rising
