Search Engine Submission

I was wondering if anyone can help with understanding the
promoting process to submitting your site to search engines.
I have been submitting my site to search engines for a few
months now and I am not sure if that is all I should do or
should I be submitting to the search engines every day or
weekly to get results. Would that be considered spamming?
Should I be submitting each of my pages that link to my main
page or should I just submit the one main page daily?
Anyones help would be greatly appreciated.
