As an aside, I want to let everyone know of a great free
service that filters out unsolicited messages at the server.
By enabling Brightmail's unique POP mail relay, I now
receive perhaps 5 or less spam messages a week, while
Brightmail filters out hundreds. My mailbox is no longer
overwhelmed by spam.

What happens is really cool: Brightmail places hundreds of
decoy e-mail addresses in high-visibility web sites, usenet,
etc. with the intention of having these addresses spidered
and added to spam lists. When they receive spam at these
addresses, Brightmail staff examine and copy out the
headers, then add them to their mail filter rules database.
When you call your POP account, Brightmail's servers read
the headers (not body) of all messages, and messages that
match any spam profiles are redirected to Brightmail's
holding bin. The rest of your messages go straight through
to your computer. You can inspect your holding bin and
retrieve/read any spam within 30 days.

I fully endorse this service as a proven, reliable method of
effortless spam elimination: http://www.Brightmail.com/
